Within the Brompton Conservation Area the property is Grade II listed where the details of interest include enriched windows, projecting porches with Doric columns, rich cornices and cast iron balconies. All of the neighbouring buildings and much of the architecture in the area shares a Grade II-listed status. In addition to the existing house, the site has been extensively excavated at the rear.
Our brief was to create a home for the client. The existing house is to be upgraded to exemplary Grade 2 finish and the rear excavation to be built out to provide a spatially interesting terrain to house the chill out space, art space, games, childrens area, music and media rooms, wellness centre, wine cellar and car spaces. The listed house was to reflect the more formal aspect of the client's life, while the spaces underground were to reflect the spirit of “Burning Man” - creative, unexpected and freethinking,a place for art and entertaining
